Our Curriculum

Curriculum Intent

Inspire to Aspire | Life in all its fullness

Our vision for education is deeply Christian, with love at the heart of everything we do. We wish to inspire all our children to aspire to take on new learning, new experiences, new responsibilities, new challenges to fulfil themselves – becoming the very best they can and experiencing “life in all its fullness”. This comes from the biblical verse John 10:10. ‘That they shall have life, life in all its fullness.’ There will be both joyful times and challenges in life but we know that God loves us and is with us even in times of difficulty. This is interwoven throughout our curriculum which enables children to flourish in God’s love and in our school.

Our Curriculum looks to nurture the whole child; spiritual, mental, physical, cultural and intellectual, so that they can make a meaningful contribution throughout their lives for the good of us all. We want to foster in our pupils a sense of community, value and respect for their local area through education and active participation that enables pupils to flourish as part of that community.

In addition to this we want to develop good global citizens for the future, enabling an inclusive, moral and diverse understanding of the ever-changing world around them. That they become courageous advocates for issues that address injustice both in the local community and across the world through embedded learning of our core values: hope, fellowship, perseverance, love, resilience and compassion. (bringing light to the darkness – John 1 v 5).

We also value the importance of recognising the gaps in our pupils’ everyday experiences so that our curriculum ensures they are ready and equipped with the skills, attitudes, knowledge and understanding they need to excel.

Our curriculum is focused on the development of children’s knowledge and skills across all primary subjects with the aim of ensuring pupils are ready for the next stage of their learning. All this whilst encompassing the ability to promote the children to have aspirations for themselves.

We wholeheartedly embrace all additional needs, encourage understanding and celebrate diversity. We support and enable all children to be confident and equipped for life's journey, thereby, ensuring every child works towards fulfilling their potential.

Our families are key partners in developing their children’s knowledge and we strive to work in partnership with them to support their child’s learning. As a reflective school we are continually looking to improve our teaching and learning in light of the latest research.

We believe that our curriculum is one that is broad and balanced and is ambitious for all. It is exciting, relevant and meaningful and responds to the needs of the individuals within our learning community, enabling them to shine academically and flourish socially, emotionally, morally and culturally. Children leave the school with a sense of belonging to a tightly knit community based on love and respect for each other; where they have the confidence and skills to make decisions, learn from mistakes, self-evaluate, make connections and become lifelong learners.
