  • Year 1

Year 1 is an exciting place to learn all about Superheroes, traditional stories and the local environment. It’s THE best place to learn about Space, minibeasts and the world around us.

We aim to make the transition from Reception to Year 1 as smooth as possible. We build on the skills learnt in Reception and develop them further to a more structured way of learning. We do this by building on the basics of reading, writing and number work.

In our topic work, much of it is done through practical, investigative learning so that the children explore their own environment and learn about the world around them. There will be many exciting events happening during the year including dressing up days, visitors and trips out of the classroom.

Through this work we make sure that the children are developing into fabulous members of the school community who always follow the school's values.
